How To Change Yourself (And The World)

Our world is in disarray. We have so many people lost, and living lives that they are strangers to. Material things are glorified more than other people respected, the stink of fear is rampant all around our communities, and collective consciousness. The world can be changed, but only if we change first. This is how we do it:

  • On Friendship

Actively strive to cultivate connection instead of mindlessly droning through a populist society which is driven by money, and little else. In less fancy words, be a human being! Be realistic about who you are, and what your needs, talents and virtues are. This way, you’ll gain real friendship and authenticity that cannot be faked.

  • On Social Media

Don’t just passively ‘like’ posts. Actually read them, reflect on them, and see ho exactly such a worldview applies to your life. We, as the youth, could change everything, if only we understood what exactly we were aiming for, and how that affects the world at large.

  • On Daily Life

I know people who collect quotes. I happen to be one of them. But I’m amazed at how many of these people’s lives remain the same, despite the enormity of their quotes. Stopping at merely being a quote-collector is futile. Apply them! Let your life be a reflection of the good things you surround yourself with. Be a person of honour, instead of talking about being a person of honour.

I don’t come at the world out of superiority. I have much to learn myself. But I find it only fair to build up my peers. To have them see that change is not only possible, but it is in our hands.

‘Be the change you wish to see in the world’, Gandhi once said. Many people know of, and have disseminated, this quote once before. But look at how many people want change, yet never actually do change? Quite a small number, that’s for sure.

I foresee a great future for humanity. I just hope that when the history books are written, this generation will be the one that will have made the most progress.
